Le ruggenti donne degli anni ’50 è una mostra itinerante delle creazioni dell’artista Maria Grazia Preda all’interno del programma dell’evento “Montaione torna al passato” che si tiene il 27 e 28 Giugno nel centro storico di Montaione. La mostra è partita il 23 giugno fino al 7 luglio coinvolgendo la Galleria d’arte “Art Gallery in Tuscany” in Via Roma,7 nel centro storico e all’interno delle seguenti strutture ricettive: Borgo San Benedetto, Borgo Collelungo, Rigone in Chianti, Tenuta delle Rose, La Casetta, La Pieve, Agriturismo Amarrante, Residence Santa Maria (www.montaione-torna-al-passato.it/amot/) così che i visitatori possono non solo godere dell’iniziativa ma anche dei luoghi e sapori del territorio di Montaione. Maria Grazia Preda presentea nuovamente gli anni Cinquanta, la sua passione, sotto forma di opere manifesto prelevando le immagini dalle riviste dell’epoca che sono il serbatoio da cui l’autrice attinge: immagini, loghi, parole stampate diventando così gli elementi minimi che, ricombinati e incollati a mano su carte pregiate, danno vita ad eleganti pezzi unici caratterizzati da una rara freschezza di gusto contemporaneo, che non dimentica tuttavia il sapore del tempo senza abbandonarsi ad alcuna sterile nostalgia. Una vera e propria incursione nella storia del costume, della moda e della pubblicità, che avrà per protagonista la donna, elegante e raffinata, e i motori, la Vespa e la 500 Fiat, indiscusse protagoniste dell’epoca, attraverso lo sguardo delle riviste di moda del tempo, con accostamenti di parole e frasi che sembrerà di guardare e leggere un fumetto nuovo e moderno nonostante l’aspetto rétro delle immagini.
Maria Grazia Preda
Nata nel 1969, a Spoleto (città del Festival dei Due Mondi), cresce circondata da artisti. Dopo gli studi classici, si trasferisce a Roma per andare all’università e lavorare come indossatrice: è infatti qui, durante le lunghe ore trascorse a lavorare nelle case di alta moda e showroom attorno a Piazza di Spagna che nasce il suo sogno di scavare nel passato glorioso della moda italiana, quando star del cinema animavano la Dolce Vita. In piedi, immobile, mentre stilisti cucivano preziosi abiti di alta moda su di lei, Maria Grazia sviluppa un forte senso per l’estetica. Negli antichi edifici romani e lungo le passerelle italiane, impara le regole della perfezione, profondamente radicate nel passato. A Parigi, dove trascorre un lungo periodo di formazione, la passione per la moda del passato e per il vintage si radica profondamente. Qui dedica il suo tempo alla fotografia e scopre la sua ammirazione per l’arte grafica e per l’espressività contemporanea. Circondata dalla bellezza e dall’arte, inizia a ritagliare le più belle immagini da riviste di moda: semplici ritagli presto si trasformano in collage. Dopo aver scoperto le opere di Mimmo Rotella, che considera una vera e propria rivelazione, Maria Grazia crea il suo primo Collage. Ha trovato il suo vero mondo e la sua espressione preferita.

“THE WOMEN OF THE ROARING ’50s”
A solo exhibition of Maria Grazia Preda
“The women of the Roaring ’50s” is an itinerant exhibition made by the artist Maria GraziaPreda’s creations as part of the event “Montaione back to the past”, held next 27th and 28th June in the center of Montaione. The exhibition is going to take place from June 23rd until July 7th, in the Gallery “Art Gallery in Tuscany” in Via Roma, 7 in the village historic center and in the following structures: Borgo San Benedetto, BorgoCollelungo, Rigone in Chianti, Tenutadelle Rose, La Casetta, La Pieve, AgriturismoAmarrante (www.montaione-torna-al-passato.it/amot/), thus visitors can enjoy work of art spread in Montaione outskirts. Maria GraziaPreda is going to present the fifties, her passion, in the form of poster works, by taking pictures from magazines, where the author finds inspiration for her drawings: images, logos, printed words making it to the minimum requirements, recombined and glued by hand on fine paper, creating stylish pieces characterized by a rare freshness of contemporary taste, not forgetting the taste of the time without indulging in any sterile nostalgic feeling. A real foray into the history of costume, fashion and advertising, which has its protagonist in the elegant and refined woman of that time and the 50’s typical vehicles, such as the Vespa and the Fiat 500, the unchallenged heroes of that time, seen through the eyes of fashion magazines, with combinations of words and phrases that would take you to look and read a sort of new and modern comic strip despite its retro image.
Maria GraziaPreda
Born in 1969 in Spoleto (city of the Festival of Two Worlds), she has grown surrounded by artists. After studying classics, she moved to Rome to attend college and work as a model: it is here, during the long hours spent working in high fashion houses and showrooms around the Spanish Steps that comes her dream to dig in glorious past of Italian fashion, when movie stars animated the Dolce Vita. Standing motionless, while designers sewed precious high fashion clothes on her, Maria Grazia developed a strong sense for aesthetics. In the ancient Roman buildings and along catwalks Italian, she learnt the rules of perfection, deeply rooted in the past. In Paris, where she spent a long period of training, the passion for fashion of the past and for the vintage is deeply rooted. Here she devoted her time to photography and discovered her admiration for the graphic art and the contemporary expression. Surrounded by beauty and art, she began to cut what she considered the best pictures from fashion magazines: simple clippings soon turned into collage. After discovering the works of Mimmo Rotella, who she considered a real revelation, Maria Grazia created her first collage. She found her real world and her favorite expression.
